PROGRAM COORDINATOR – BREASTFEEDING THE TRADITIONAL WAY
The Program Coordinator of Breastfeeding the Traditional Way (BTW)
Program will work toward improving the quality of life for Tribal members
through education, advocacy, program development and implementation
relative to breastfeeding, with a focus on increasing breastfeeding initiation
and duration among mothers of Tribal children through education of Tribal
community members and the promotion of breastfeeding-friendly workplaces.
Partnerships and activities will be coordinated among Tribes, other Tribal
organizations, private hospitals and health care facilities in Wisconsin.
Located in Lac du Flambeau, WI, this full time position working 32 hours per
week has a starting rate of $18.50 to $21.25 per hour with benefits including;
Annual/Personal Leave and Holiday Pay; Health, Dental, Life & AD&D, STD
and LTD Insurance, FSA and 403(b) Retirement Plan.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a health and human service field is desired. Minimum
three years of experience in health and human services or an equivalent
combination of education is required. CLS (Certified Lactation Specialist) or
CLC (Certified Lactation Counselor) preferred. Grant writing, funding and
reporting experience preferred. Experience with a Native American Tribal
organization and/or not-for-profit agency preferred. Individual must possess:
excellent verbal and written communication skills; professional demeanor and
appearance; problem solving skills; ability to work effectively under pressure;
ability to manage time effectively; self-motivation skills; ability to build
positive relationships with both internal and external clienteles; ability to
speak in front of groups; ability to interact professionally with a wide variety
of people. Individual must be able to apply advanced reasoning skills to
problem solving and use basic mathematical skills. Must possess valid
driver’s license and reliable transportation with adequate insurance and have
the ability to travel.
