I am wondering what other hospitals are doing with regards to LC telephone triage. How does everyone handle telephone warm lines in a hospital setting? Do you have a hospital protocol you follow when giving information/advice? So in other words- do you have a script you do not stray from? What method of documentation are you using- ie:EPIC or paper log sheets? Do you record the resource from where you take information when you document?

We chart all our phone calls in EPIC as a telephone encounter. We write a note using our home instruction sheets as a protocol for information that we give out. These are reviewed and updated on a regular basis by our Lactation Team. Topics in our home instructions include thrush, breast infection, sore nipples, engorgement, plugged ducts to name a few.
